$800 Holiday Challenge 2012

I found this challenge on Cents to Save and I thought that I could most definately benefit from this challenge.  Though I am upping the total amount a little bit.  My niece will be here for next Christmas and Santa will be good to her (Yup, she's not even here yet and she's already spoiled!).

My Holiday Gift Giving Goals:

~ Make a bunch of homemade Christmas gifts, I'm a knitter so I think that if I keep at all year I should have a bunch of knitted gifts to pass along to friends and family.

~ Try to come in UNDER my allotted $800.

~ Keep Santa under control when it comes to my niece ;)

The Frugal February Challenge

I am participating in the Frugal February challenge held by the blog Big Girls Browse.  There is really only 1 rule for this challenge:
I vow, for one month from 1st Feb, to avoid shopping for anything other than essentials.
The only day that this challenge will NOT be in affect is February 21, which is my 28th birthday. Are you going to participate in the challenge?  If you sign up leave me a link and I'll drop by and say Hi!

The Debt Snowflake Challenge

I decided to join the Debt Snowflake Challenge that is being hosted by MomsPlans.com.  I have decided that I want to try and snowflake $500 towards my debts through the year.  So far I've managed to collect a small debt ($6) and apply that to one of my credit card payments.  It's super tiny but something is better than nothing.

Sparkpeople and Sparksavings!

One of my goals for the year is to become not only financially fit but also physically fit as well.  I FINALLY found a place where I can keep track of goals for both of these goals.  The web page is called Sparkpeople.com and one of it's branch off web pages is Sparksavings.com.  If you become a member of either of these sites and you want to try another your prior log in name should get you in (it does for me but I'm just finding these two sites).

So far today I've paid a couple of bills and I was able to apply a small ($6) snowflake to one of my payments.  I'm pretty proud of myself.  Now all I have to do is master creating a budget and then sticking to it!

Hello there!

Welcome to my new blog!  Thanks for stopping by.  As you see from the title of my blog I am trying to master money.  I've never really been good with the green stuff.  And I'm even worse with credit cards.  Though I will admit that I have paid off 2 of my original 5.  I've got to get better with my money.  It's not an option anymore.  I'm making car payments again and I need to keep on top of my finances!

Ok, this blog won't be strictly about money.  I'll be sharing regular old personal stuff too.  Like for example, my brother and his wife will be welcoming a little girl into this crazy world in March.  She's due the 14 which is 1 day before my mom/grandma's birthday.  I can hardly wait until she gets here.  She isn't even here yet and grandma, grandpa and auntie Jamie are already spoiling her rotten.

Oh, I also LOVE to knit.  My sister in law taught me and one of our friends from work how to knit on our lunch break one night.  If your a knitter/crocheter who's on Ravelry my user name is hifromjamers.  Let's be buddies!

I also book blog.  For those of you out there who like to read you can find all sorts of book reviews on my book blog The Book Junkie's Bookshelf.  If your looking for your next big read I HIGHLY recommend The Hunger Games trilogy, just purchase all three books right together.  This is one of those series that once you start you just can't finish until the last page of the last book.
